About Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications
Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT), established in 1942, is a key provincial university co-established by MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) of People's Republic of China and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. NUPT has been developing the school spirit as “diligent, realistic, progressive and creative”. Not limited to post and telecommunications, NUPT now embraces diverse fields in information and technology. With engineering as the principal part, information technology and telecommunications as the main features, we offer a wide range of subjects including science, engineering, economics, management, literature, education and arts. NUPT now has 19 colleges (departments) and 17 research schools (institute, centre), granting undergraduate, master and Ph. D degrees. Two campuses, Xianlin District and Sanpailou District, cover an area of 1,332,000 square kilometers.
NUPT now has 2 Mobile Post-doctoral Center, 3 PHD programs and 10 Master’s degree programs of first-class disciplines, 12 degree authorization sites and 44 undergraduate programs. The signal and information processing is a national key subject. Both Information & Telecommunications Engineering and Organic Optical Electronics are advantageous disciplines of provincial college. In addition, 7 national special subject construction sites including the Telecommunications & Information Engineering, and 14 provincial special subject construction sites.
We have the outstanding faculty. By the end of November of 2012, the total number of the teaching staff has reached 1667; 44.07 percent of 1080 full-time teachers have earned advanced/higher professional and technical titles; 426 are supervisors to Ph. D and Master’s degree candidates. Presently we have 1 Nobel Prize winner, 1 member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), 3specially appointed professors who are “Changjiang Scholars” of Education Ministry, 6 specially appointed professors chosen by "1000 Talents program”, 1 specially appointed professor chosen by “1000 Young Talents Program”, 3 who have been awarded the fund for Outstanding Youth of China and 1 chosen by "100 Talents program” of CAS. Presently, NUPT has 13400 undergraduates and 3465 graduate students.
NUPT actively promotes international exchange and cooperation. In as early as 1990, NUPT has become an ITU (International Telecommunication Union) APT Training Center in China. Over the two decades, NUPT has trained more than 20 groups of personnel from 22 countries and regions. We have established long-term interschool academic cooperation with universities and research institutes from more than 10 countries and areas and invited more than 800 international experts and scholars overseas to give lectures. We also established cooperation and jointly foster expertise of various disciplines with more than 10 overseas universities.
